BEIS Announce Winners of Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply 2 competition

The UK Government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (“BEIS”) has announced the successful projects for Stream 1 Phase 1 of its Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply 2 competition.  Suiso is one of the winners in the Low Carbon Hydrogen Category.

The aim of the Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply 2 competition is to identify, support and then develop credible innovative hydrogen supply or enabling technologies to bring about a step change in their development.  Under Stream 1 Phase 1, BEIS awarded c£6 million of funding across 23  projects to conduct feasibility studies.  It will be followed with Phase 2 in late 2022 which will take the most promising  projects from Phase 1 and support the proposed physical demonstration of their hydrogen supply solution with up to £6m per project.

Phase 1 will allow the successful companies to develop their hydrogen supply technology or enabling technology. This feasibility study will support the development of the project team’s understanding of the core and ancillary technology, the performance of the technology, the market potential, the route to market (including competition) and costs and delivery plan.  Phase 2 will support the physical demonstration of the hydrogen supply solution, including engineering design, build, trial, decommissioning, market assessment, and knowledge dissemination.
